Walk for DAS

Date: September 25th, 2021
Time: Morning
Location: Botantical Gardens- 2655 South Park Ave, Buffalo NY

Deaf Access Services (DAS) was established in 1983 by a group of committed volunteers interested in the welfare of the Deaf community. DAS was set up as an independent not for profit organization, known at that time as Deaf Adult Services, and continues to be the only agency of its kind serving the eight counties of Western New York. In 2014, DAS changed its name to Deaf Access Services, to expand our focus to not only adults, but children and families across Western New York. In February 2019, Deaf Access Services formed an affiliation with People Inc. in order to meet the growing needs of the WNY Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

As with every other organization throughout the country, Deaf Access Services, an Affiliate of People Inc. has had to make adjustments to how we work. We are fortunate that we are able to continue providing all of our services remotely.

For DAS, this walk is a way to spread awareness and bring attention to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. This walk will also help all of Western New York gain a greater understanding of the need for access to local programs, services, resources, and reasonable accommodations. With your support DAS is able to ensure that advocacy and support services continue for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community members that depend on us.
