DAS Interpreting Training Program

DAS Interpreting Training Program (ITP) is a comprehensive and intensive program tailored to prepare our students for immediate interpreting work upon graduation. Classes are held Wednesday evenings and requires some Saturdays.

A student will need to be signing regularly for a minimum of two years to be ready to begin training. However, if you feel that you are conversationally fluent, and able to use ASL at a speed equal to the pace of normal conversation, then you are ready to be evaluated for the program.

Each student will go through a short assessment to determine that their skill level is on par with the requirements of the course work.  The advanced ASL component will be taught by Deaf Instructors and both the Interpreting Skills portion and Ethics will be taught by certified interpreters.
